Entry 9: Kaolin Clay, Pruning

 This week, we focused on pruning the nemaguards down to a more manageable size. From the wild growth, the dominant shoot was determined, and the rest were pruned back to about half their size. For shoots competing with the main stem, they were cut back closer to the main stem. This helped the nemaguards from drying out so quickly. 

We also used Kaolin clay to spray some of the Apricot trees that are being trained on a trellis. The tied lateral branches were sprayed with the clay for sun protection.
